Rainey Endowed School represents Estonia at Mock European Council in Northern Ireland
16.10.2009
Students from Rainey Endowed School will join 27 other schools from across Northern Ireland to take part in a mock meeting of the European Council on Friday 16 October 2009 at Northern Ireland Parliament Buildings, Stormont.
Three pupils Alison Duncan, Sharon Riddel and Laura Britton from Rainey Endowed School will take on the important task of representing Estonia at the meeting. The students will have an opportunity to take part in debates and vote on topical issues affecting the EU such as climate change and the current economic crisis. Students will hear from a number of speakers with experience of working in the European institutions.
This will be the first year that the event will take place in the impressive Senate Chamber at Stormont, which is rarely used for external events. The mock council is one of many activities being organised by the British Council as part of its 75th anniversary year in 2009.
