The Estonian Ministry of Education and Research and Estonian Science Foundation have signed an agreement for the next four years with the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at the University College London to enable young and aspiring Estonian scientists and researchers work at the university and with its institutions in London. The first successful applicant will start working in London in September this year.
The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies is one of the world's leading specialist institutions, and the largest national centre in the UK, for the study of Central, Eastern and South-East Europe and Russia. At SSEES there is also a possibility to study Estonian language, which is now being offered as an intensive course (Estonian as a New Language), either as a component of M.A. degrees or for the purposes of doctoral or other research. The course in Estonian as a New Language aims to give the student a thorough grounding in the structure of the language, a reading knowledge and conversational competence, as well as an introduction to Estonian life and culture, with the aim of equipping the student for a period of research in the country.
