Tallinn as focus of urban design project alongside Athens, London and Milan
11.01.2010 - 15.01.2010
Estonian fashion designer Reet Aus in four city public spaces design project focusing on Tallinn, Athens, London and Milan.
As part of the eco-fashion No Place Like Homeseries (Check out the flyer) her project Tallinn Shadow Memory on 11 – 15 January together with media-artist Ville Hyvönen is an installation aimed to stimulate further public debate about urban public spaces focussing on issues of history, fashion and re-use. Reet Aus is well-regarded for her pioneering work in creating high fashion through recycling. She has worked extensively in the theatre and is particularly interested in the relationship between (recycled) costume and the space it inhabits.
A free public lecture about Tallinn Shadow Memory followed by a debate about the issues raised will be held on Thursday 14 January at Scott Brownrigg’s offices (Get the postcard and join the debate)

Pioneered by Scott Brownrigg, and conceived in collaboration with Dr Ivana Wingham, senior lecturer at The University of Brighton, The No Place Like Home series aims to explore the design of public space by using a series of week-long installations to engage the architectural community, academics and the public in a debate on what makes a public space. The installations are designed by several academics, architects and artists and focus on four European cities –, Athens, London, Tallinn and Milan. They are transforming Scott Brownrigg’s minimally designed private reception space into an extension of the London street and a public gallery.
Tallinn Shadow Memory is supported by the Estonian Embassy in London.
