Estonian film Baltic Way at Beyond Words Festival

09.11.2009 - 13.11.2009

University College School Film Festival Beyond Words will show the Estonian film Baltic Way by Peeter Simm from Monday 9th to Friday 13th November.

University College School’s annual Beyond Words Festival is now a well-established star in the festival firmament. Not merely a literature or arts festival, Beyond Words embraces every area of endeavour – including dance, science, music, film-making, cookery, politics, medicine, advertising, history, and much more. We have a multitude of events on offer, offering a week of creativity, investigation, physical activity, exhilaration and contemplation.

On 23 August 1989, the three nations living by the Baltic Sea surprised the world by taking hold of each other's hands and jointly demanding recognition of the secret clauses in the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact and the re-establishment of the independence of the Baltic States. More than a million people joined hands to create a 600 km long human chain from the foot of Toompea in Tallinn to the foot of the Gediminas Tower in Vilnius, crossing Riga and the River Daugava on its way, creating a synergy in the drive for freedom that united the three countries.

University College School is at Frognal, Hampstead, London NW3 6XH. Tel: 020 7435 2215.

The showing is free of charge.
