UMA is a co-operation of two musicians – Aleksei Saks and Robert Jürjendal – who came together in the beginning of 2007. UMA plays it’s members` compositions, which have classical forming and nordic ambient atmosphere enriched with free and jazz improvisations.

 

Aleksei Saks plays trumpet and rarely used corno da caccia (hunting horn) both coloured with sound effects and looper. Robert Jürjendal plays mostly Ovation semi-acoustic guitar (new standard tuning) equipped with midi-pickup and Roland VG-8, using Gretsch electric guitar for some of tunes.

First CD of UMA „Civitas Soli“ was released in the end on 2008 (Elwood) with great help of producer Markus Reuter (Germany) and ambient guru Robert Rich (USA). Despite its short activity time, UMA has performed on concerts in Estonia, Russia and Germany.
