13 concerts by the Estonian bagpipe group Ro:toro
Traditional bagpipes, played in Estonia since the 14th century, blend with contemporary jazz saxophone and percussion on bowls and basins (!) to create a unique fusion of ancient and modern. Presented with style and wit. Wild, earthy and great fun.
The group will be in the UK as part of International Village of Culture festival.
The aim of the International Village of Culture Showcase is to programme an international showcase festival of rural touring particularly targeting the areas of Scandinavia, the Baltic states and Eastern Europe.
The event will involve companies from Finland, Norway, Estonia and Poland. Ro:toro mixes two bagpipes, saxophone and water-drum. It will be their third visit to the UK.
