Sild and Klapp in in the Swansea Valley - WALESTONIA FESTIVAL
18.10.2008
The Estonian-Welsh traditional music duo Sild will give joint concert with the Estonian music trio Klapp in the Miners Welfare Hall, Ystradgynlais (in the Swansea Valley) on 18 October.
Martin Leamon (guitar & bouzouki) and Sille Ilves (fiddle, vocals & hiiu-kannel) formed Sild a unique Welsh–Estonian collaboration in 2001 since when their constantly evolving music has developed into a truly original fusion of two different musical cultures. Rooted in tradition yet thoroughly modern, they create timeless and beautiful music as their latest album Tro perfectly demonstrates.
"Mesmerising...subtle and dark...an object of distinctive minimalist beauty" - James McLaren, SOUNDNATION
Support comes from Klapp, a trio who are inheritors of the dance music traditions of the South East Estonian region of Setumaa. With their high-energy performances these three young men with acoustic instruments and traditional costume create music that is both deeply moving and irresistibly danceable.
