August and Vilen Künnapu at St Donat Arts Centre - WALESTONIA FESTIVAL
15.10.2008 - 16.10.2008
Paintings by August Künnapu and the Temples and Towers exhibition by Vilen Künnapu will be displayed at the St Donat Art Centre as part of the WALESTONIA FESTIVAL.

August Künnapu likes his paintings to be pure and simple. An Estonian writer Hanno Soans observed that everything Künnapu touches with his paint brush turns into a self portrait. He added that the artist also has, "an unbelievably sincere faith in the healing quality of good painting." August's work is inspired by his father Vilen Künnapu, uncle and other positive male role models.
Temples and towers by Vilen Künnapu
The Temples and Towers – this kind of architecture is related to big mysteries. They are thought to be mediators between the existing human beings and higher realities. These models are incarnations of the energy centre architecture of the Egyptians, Mayas, Buddhists, Copts, Hindus, Sufis and many others in every time and in everywhere.
Vilen Künnapu has played himself out of time and out of place. This architecture does not qualify to the material speculations of the world as we know it. If we would be talking about religion, architecture would be theology and Vilen Künnapu a mystic.
