Ilmar Raag in Eastern European Youth Culture discussion panel

Monday April 21 6.30pm: EURO-TEENS: Adventures in Eastern European Youth Culture, Vibe Lounge, Old Truman Brewery, 91 - 95 Brick Lane, London E1
With a number of films in our EAST MEETS EAST strand within the Festival (from Russia, Czech Republic, Estonia and Poland) focussing on teenage stories, this discussion will look at the growth of the advertising and media industries, and in film, fashion and music, and their connection to young people born since 1989.
The panel will include photographers and journalists documenting the New Europe. Panellists will include: Sandra Nováková – actress PUSINKY, Czech actress Sandra Nováková plays one of a trio of teenage girls on the road in PUSINKY, screening Tuesday April 22nd at Rich Mix. She has been a child actress on Czech TV and home cinema since 1992.
Ilmar Raag – director KLASS
After being the Head of Acquisitions for Estonian National Television, Ilmar was promoted to the Chairman of the Board. In 2002, he staged a play in one of the Estonian theatres, and started to consult and doctor Estonian feature scripts and working on scripts for EURIMAGES and MEDIA Plus. In 2004, he directed his own script of AUGUST 1991 for Estonian Television and also received 3rd prize Hartley Merill International Screenwriting Competition for ONE MORE CROISSANT and the support from MEDIA New Talent program. Eager to continue the filmmaker's career, he quit television and made his first feature film KLASS in 2007. He has since done internships in Hollywood in the development departments of New Regency and Phoenix Pictures.
