Renaissance Europe: East meets West Throughout the history of cultural development two strains of thought have confronted each other one staunchly defending tradition while the other strives for innovation. In a brilliant, thought-provoking programme Heinavanker show how this is achieved in Estonia and England as music grows from the middle ages to the Renaissance. Includes music by Taverner, Frye and Byrd together with some of their not-so-well-known Estonian contemporaries
Heinavanker (the Haywain) is an early music vocal ensemble from Tallinn whose repertoire is made up of Estonian folk hymns and early polyphonic music. The group has performed in many prestigious music festivals throughout Europe and USA. This is their second tour in the UK.
