Wee Views Mare Tralla - Threshold Flush

24.10.2007

Follow the artist’s own trail as a cultural tourist around the galleries and museums of the world through a series of striking photographs snapped in the privacy of toilet cubicles. The artist recalls: ‘Rumour had it the Estonian Art Museum in Tallinn had to spend a large part of its annual exhibition budget to upgrade its toilets to European standards.

exhibition open daily 10am-7pm until Wed 30 Apr 08

Only then would the local tourist board recommend the museum to foreign visitors.” An anecdote which ironically predates Estonia’s membership of the European Union but fuelled Tralla’s interest in the role of toilets in art institutions.

Accompanied by a forthcoming issue of Read More journal dedicated to Tralla’s Eurogame, also featured in Bon Voyage.
