The Holst Singers and Stephen Layton perform works of Estonian composer Veljo Tormis, regarded in his native country as their leading living composer.

"Veljo Tormis is one of the most original, and unmistakably Baltic, compositional voices writing music for choirs in the world today. In addition to becoming acquainted with his music over the years, it has been a pleasure getting to know him personally during spells of work in Tallinn; I hope that my rapport with him and his music comes through in my performances with The Holst Singers. I am proud that we are leading the way, outside Tormis' native land, of championing his remarkable and distinctly Estonian music." (Stephen Layton)

Following the concert in June, the Holst Singers and Stephen Layton will be making a recording of the programme on Hyperion, for a scheduled release in late 2007 or early 2008.

Tickets £12 (£10) from Ticketweb or 08700 600 100.
